today

was bru.tal.

i was having another one of my headaches... where it's really much more similar to a stroke or heart-attack. this was my 4th one, i had a meltdown and called my doctor. she got me in for an immediate M.R.I.

who does this girl think she's kidding?

--for those of you who've never experienced an MRI... praise allah. it was the worst experience of my life. basically they put you in this little tube and play alarmingly loud beeping noises for 30 minutes straight, and if you so much as re-adjust your head, they start over. then they give you an I.V. which makes you yak. (again I am sorry Dr. Pat.)

anyway, the radiologist called us back and said my brain was perfect, this is amazing news since i was expecting to hear that i had a tumor, Multiple Sclerosis or a blood clot. bad news, because i am back to square one and i still don't know what's wrong.

next, i got a chiropractic adjustment thinking maybe a pinched nerve could cause my face/arms/legs to go numb, and cause me to lose vision and all hand-eye coordination. i guess that wasn't it either because he said that my back was looking pretty good, and only had to do a minor adjustment.

so i am off to see a diagnostician/neurologist next week, and i am seriously praying that she will find SOMETHING, so i don't feel like i am taking crazy pills!!
we all know that a bummed out emily just needs a little retail therapy. i am thinking this might be my perfect summer get-up. i am loving white on white lately...

This might sound strange, but do you drink a lot of diet soda? Last year I was experiencing numbness in my arms and legs and we thought it was MS. Come to find out it was from the artificial sugar I was drinking. It's known to make your body mimic certain diseases and MS is one of the top ones. Once I stopped drinking diet anything the symptoms left and I was perfectly fine.

Sorry that was long, but I thought I should tell you. Hope you get feeling better and that you find out what it is soon.

Well since there isn't anything to leave a wise crack on for Into the Wild, I'll leave it here. I know how much you like reading Em, so pick the book up, I had it done in about 1 day and 1/2. You'll love it!!!

It sounds like you might be getting visual migraines, with the loss of vision and hand-eye coordination. Ask the neurologist about it. As far as I know, there's not much you can do to treat them, just control your behavior and stress levels to prevent them from happening. Good luck!

Em, about twice a year I get these horrible migraines where I have tunnel vision, numbness in my face and extremities, and I throw up for like 6 hours straight. I take Imitrex at the first sign, and it seems to help a little. My Dr. said certain foods can set it off ie... Diet sodas, msg, caffeine, and others. I seem to get them if I don't eat? So who really knows what sets them off? Good luck finding something that helps! Let me know what you find out. Sorry about the epistle.

Em: I hope everything goes ok for you next week & they can tell you what is wrong!! I am sorry to hear that! If there is anything I can do for you please let me know! The best thing I can tell you with headaches is trying to get more sleep. I get them a lot from being exhausted. I also know that is one of the systoms for havig something wrong with your thyroid. I believe you have had that checked, but you might want to get it checked as well. That's all I can think of, but my mom is an amazing "Doctor" so I will ask her & get back to you asap!! Hope you start feeling better & know that you are in my prayers sweetheart!

I had an MRI once and I didn't love it, but didn't think it was too bad. I'm not a claustrophobic person though. My mom on the other hand had an MRI last year and had an all out panic attack in there. She got majorly claustrophobic.

holy smokes- sounds terrible to me. you should definitely just sit and watch discovery health all day long- they do case studies of people with crazy symptoms like yours and then diagnose them. - maybe one of them has what you have.

Geez, MRI's are to familiar. I know what you felt like. Sorry.

I'm Kent/Leisy's friend, I've left a comment once before, but I can totally empathize with this one! I have to get a MRI every 6 weeks with the IV contrast. (They DID find a brain tumor when I had one back in November of last year) Now they have to make sure it doesn't grow back. I loathe them. I tear up, I want to throw up, and I swear the MRI Tech is just trying to hurt me. Then, after, you feel like shiz for the next 24 hours while the magnesium or iodine (whatever they used, iodine seriously makes you feel like you just wet your pants) clears your system.

Another thing about these blasted machines, they are misleading. That opening in the pictures looks big enough to fit a person comfortably. What people DON'T know is that it gets smaller and smaller as you go it.

They should at least play some good tunes while you are in there. Instead of that insane noise.

It's like being shot by a magnetic machine gun.

That is all. Sorry you had to go through that.
