one dress three ways

square magazine has been in publication for 3+ years, yet somehow we evaded the dreaded "wedding issue" until this spring.

this was also the first time the clothes went straight from brains of matt and myself, to sketch, to seamstress, to shoot, to magazine. it has been super neat to be a part of the whole process.

we used the empty abercrombie + fitch store for the shoot,
it still smells like "fierce"
and felt very east-coast like. it was perfect.

we took a very simple A-line, tube top, tea-length dress
for the base and played it up three different ways.

01. the collar
i made the veil from a headband out of the shop.
the french anemone's were the flowers i had shipped in for my wedding,
but they came green and unbloomed.
for sentimental reasons i had to work them into the shoot.

02. lace bolero + lace skirt detail
i'd wear this dress in a heart beat, it turned out so well!

03. the jacket
for this dress, we simply bussled the skirt to make it a pencil fit and added
a jacket and black details.
very "hey there sailor" don't ya think?

what's a bride with out a little blang?

charity saved my life by coming and assisting,
she did all my normal schlepping and pretending to listen to matt-ing.

check out matt's cutest post ever here.
and hopefully he'll add some outtakes on his blog.
the wedding issue goes to print for march.
