russ and i made a deal that we wouldn't do any baby stuff until after i graduated in december. figuring, from january to march we would have plenty of time to get everything ready.
we both stink at this deal.
i catch him looking online at stuff all the time, and well, he sees our bank statement.
so finally last saturday we seriously sat down and figured out what we were going to buy.
this search was fruitless.
everything we want is ridiculously beautiful, with amazing design and function,
and costs the same as a midsize sedan.
exhibit A:
the Stokke Oval Crib || $800
selling points--
*you might get a cute swedish looking kid if you buy this crib.
*it's oval so you'll be paying out the nose for sheets, crib bedding, bumpers...pretty right?
exhibit B:
the Bloom Fresco high chair || $400
*you don't really need a high chair for a few months until your kid can actually hold it's own head up. but, we took care of that, because it reclines.
*it looks like an egg!
exhibit C:
the Orbit Infant Carrier System || $900
*it TWISTS! you can twist the sprout towards you when you'r discussing modern art with it.
*there's two cupholders! (russ' favorite)

Hey! There's nothing wrong with dreaming about fancy baby things! Did you see all of the ridiculously frivolous "stuff" I blogged about when I was pregnant?! Yeah, that was fun. We ended up getting out crib at Deseret Industries :)
oh my gosh all these things are amazing and having me drool. i might just need that high chair. and there is a stroller i found at target or wal mart that does the exact same thing as that one but it's four hundred dollars. i'll get you the link.
you know i LOVE the orbit and the stokke crib. it sucks that all the cool designed stuff costs so much.
Yea it's tough to buy the standard stuff when your heart is set on all of the unique cool things. Do yourself a favor and don't even look at it.
We got a lot of things on KSL and for gifts. But if you are going to splurge on something I'd get that high chair. That is awesome!
I feel this real hard. I've been looking beneath most peoples cushions so I can save up for a Bugaoboo stroller and that same high chair. Just tell yourself you'll probably have a lot of kids, so it's an investment.
bumbleride strollers do that too. nice finds, but yes they do cost a small fortune.
totally not what you want to hear, but you'll quickly find that not a lot of that stuff matters...
ie - we have this awesome antique highchair (inherited it but i was looking for one and almost spent a small fortune) and the little one is completely over anything resembling a high chair anymore (she's only 20 months).
pick your battles! you're going to want to spend $ on all the lates clothes, shoes, and toys when you get him here :) it never ends!
Very cute!
amen sister. totaly want the pricey stuff. not sick anymore thank heaven. you? do you know what you are having yet?
I completely understand. I look at baby stuff all time and I don't plan on having a baby for a long time. congralutaions on ziggy starbaby.
*all THE time.....I hate when I mess up. oh and *congraTulations
i'm in love with that crib! good luck resisting that one. but whatever you do...don't get a high chair with that many grooves and nooks and crannies for food to get into! it's not worth it no matter how cute it is. just get the white plastic one from ikea...you'll love how easy to clean and move it is. plus it takes up hardly any space and is only $25. how's that for some unsolicited advice from a stranger? :) i just really love my ikea high chair.
