i've been graduated for a whole hour, and boy does it feel nice.
i knew i picked the right major when i walked out those doors the last time
and all i was thinking about how i can read whatever i want now...
first up:

p.s. uvu only holds commencements in april,
so if i want to wear the cap & gown i gotta wait.

My husband loves "The Book Thief", I need to read it sometime. My all time favorite is "The Keeper of the Bees" by Gene Stratton Porter. SO good!!! Makes me want to be a better person too!

My lobotomy was really good- sad but a good book.
umm clarification... the title is called My Lobotomy.
It is by Howard Dully.
It was good but sad in a way that science and family screwed him up but he has come out of it and survived to be a great person.

thanks for the list... i struggle with knowing what to read. not that i ever really read. hello! t.v! but now that we're heading into the winter drought of t.v. i'll need something else to do.

Skip Time Traveler's Wife and go straight for The Road. I've never cried during a novel before and I was literally sobbing and heaving for the last fifteen pages. It's his masterpiece, in my opinion, and it is truly affecting.
Emily I felt the same way about walking. But you have to do it. I am so glad I did! (and I really didn't want to!)

Congrats on graduating!! I graduated in Dec. and walked in April; I thought it was worth it. It's a great accomplishment, worth a celebration.
horray for graduation! you should definitely walk in april, it's the cherry on top of all your hard work. and i know exactly what you mean about not being able to read what you want when you're in school - i have 3 weeks off and i'm going to try and read at least 3 books. you must read Peace Like A River - it's so well written and such a lovely story.

Congrats! I skipped out on my graduation from BYU and went to the spa instead. So worth it.
I love books by Jen Lancaster. Her first book was "Bitter is the New Black." Hilarious. She has 3 more books that are just as funny.

Make sure you check out "The History of Love" by Nicole Krausss. She's Jonathan Safran Foer's wife and her books are amazing!
Just finished reading The Glass Castle... Loved it because EACH page is a true story and the stories are unbelievable. It makes you really grateful for normalcy and sane parents.
emily. love your book list- we are definitely on the same page. i can attest to lots on the list being perfect reads...but one book that i absolutely love love love is Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner. The character development is second to none. Foer also has a new book out- I haven't read it yet but I'm sure it's good, as his others are fantastic. xoxo!

when i graduated from byu i got married and was moving across country within a week, so i missed my graduation. i still regret it.
in fact, i have a reoccurring dream that i never graduated and i still have to take finals. terrible...
anyhow on the books.
i second the crossing to safety by stegner. i read it a year or two ago, and i thought it was slow at first, then i ended up really like it!
