HIATU$

we've got a few spendy occasions coming up with our 5 year anniversary, a couple vacations & the holidays, and to do my part to lessen the blow i have put myself on a spending hiatus. i don't really know what i've got myself into, but i do know that buying new things is always on my mind. maybe i've always been materialistic and consumptive, but time's up! i think this is just the thing to cure me.

to kick it off right & hopefully change my thinking about shopping -- a few friends & i are doing a 10 items for 1 week wardrobe challenge.
here are the rules:

1. pick 10 items of clothing - tops, bottoms, shoes.
accessories & outwear that is protecting you from the weather doesn't count.
2. photograph your 10 items.
3. each day of the week, photograph your outfit using only/up to those 10 items each day.

we'd love for you to join! e-mail me with any questions & leave links to your posts when they're up & i'll share them with everyone. i'll post my 10 choices monday & daily outfit concoctions to follow. has anyone ever done this? is it going to make it worse because i CAN'T shop?

Hey that sounds fun! Maybe I'll join you and post on my blog. My sisters and I are not buying anything new for a ....drumroll please.... whole year! We started in Jamuary so we're 9 months into it! The 10 for 1 week wardrobe might help me pull some stuff from the bottom of my closet!

Emily, we can buy from thrift stores though so that helps ALOT.

They wore 6 items for a MONTH!

Good luck though. I doubt I could do it.

They showed this on the Today Show last week with only 6 items. You're brave but I think the harder thing would be not buying anything. That's setting myself up for failure. Have fun! I'm excited to follow.

What a great idea! I'm excited to see what you come up with (since you have such killer stylist skills). Kendi Everyday did something similar for a month: http://kendieveryday.blogspot.com/2010/08/30-for-30-finale-summer-edition.html

Hi there! So I am Jessica's sister the little "J" from the J project. I just wanted to let you know that I will be joining you and your friends for the 10 items for a week. I am assuming that doesn't include accessories and pj's. Excited!
