nesting started a titch early this time around. probably because we were both trying to avoid the flooring fiasco (that ended up working out perfectly fine) of march 2010.
our main hurdle for this pregnancy was to clear out our office, or Junk Fortress, to make room for Hayes' new room. as soon as we found out B.I.B. was a B-O-Y we decided to keep the nursery as is, put BIB in there and give Hayes the bigger office.
my friend Colett designed a built-in bookshelf for her house and when i saw it last year i dr-oo-led. i showed Russ and he took off running.
so here is our first of many nesting projects... to get the "office" out:
Russ was able to build in custom shelves for our computer, printer, CDs, records and record player. he wired in speakers so we get excellent sound for our computer and record player. every other shelf was just eye-balled, but it worked out really well. to give the books some order i ended up organizing them by:
1. poetry, short stories & biographies
2. church & religion
3. books for kids
4. self help & conspiracies (thankfully our smallest section. ha.)
5. cookbooks and coffee table books
6. everything else (mostly adult non-fiction)
if you're really observant, yes Russ insisted on painting the whole room too.
the cream color we chose originally was fine, but we spend most of our time in this room in the evening, and our west facing windows let in really yellowy evening light that made the room look yellow too. apparently this annoyed Russ.
i told him i wanted nothing to do with it, i hate painting!
so he picked the color (valspar "wood ash"), painted, and i just made sure not to be home.
here's a "before" look.

And it's totally opposite at my house, I seem to con my husband into painting (HE HATES IT), I don't like to paint either, but I like the finished product.
ps. congrats on the bun in the oven! Mine are 19 months apart, and the older they get, the more and more I am happy I had them close together.
