oh Island Park, we miss you. it was such a relaxing vacation, focused on our kids making memories and just being together. here's a a gigahertz of photos to illustrate.
the cabin:
the campfire:
my whole heart:
the face:
family we call friends, too:
the river:
the wave: (the index finger stays perfectly straight while the other fingers move up and down.)
the awesome hosts:
the bottom three photos were taken by Liz.
she posted these with her tips for better photos.
it's such a good post.
it made me realize how much my own photography is influenced by her and
how much better it's gotten because of her and Collin, too. definitely a must read!
my mom and Scott were so great about having loads of activities for the kids to do. we watercolored, decorated patriotic hats for the parade, and picked wildflowers for tiny vases around the cabin.
there was a moment when we were getting ready for dinner while Hayes and his cousins were running around - not even sure what they were doing - and Hayes had the biggest grin and was laughing so hard he could barely breathe.
Russ and I looked at each other and agreed he was having the time of his life.
it made me instantly grateful for my family and all the memories i have with my siblings and the gift it is to watch my kids and their kids do the same.
thanks mom and Scott for a wonderful weekend!

Amazing photos!! Looks like a beautiful weekend:)
There's something so magical about nature and even more so when with family. Love the river pics and "my whole heart" is perfection. Frame a few of these would ya?!
Hi there! Just found your blog and love it:) Funny to see your love of baseball tees (I love how Sydney, and you, wear yours), Zara sandals (I have been wanting these and yet haven't bought them for some reason) and photography.
We just went to our family's cabin here in eastern Oregon and it looks almost identical to your first picture! Looks like you had a great time!
